Posted on 17th April, her post stated that her child, named Delisya, has been admitted in the hospital for four days. The baby was reportedly rushed to Hospital Shah Alam’s emergency department after the child vomited blood twice.
Upon getting an X-ray, ultrasound and further examination, doctors diagnosed the 2-month-old with a severe lung infection. It was reported that Delisya has probably been suffering from this infection for the past three weeks.
Aside from vomiting blood, the 2-month-old has been defecating 20 times a day as a result of the severe infection. The infection has also affected the baby’s other organs, causing swelling in Delisya’s liver and spleen. A translated excerpt from her Facebook post reads,
“You’re in pain, mummy understands. Your arm must be sore from all the injections. Tomorrow (18th April) was supposed to be the day of my convocation, but this is a test from God.”
“Please, to all smokers, be mindful of smoking around those who do not smoke as the consequences for them are much more severe. My baby has been sick for so many days now.”
The 2-month-old is currently still admitted in the hospital as she continues to receive treatment.
According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), secondhand smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, hundreds of which are toxic and even carcinogenic. It can cause frequent asthma attacks, respiratory and ear infections, and even sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in infants and children. Adults, meanwhile, can contract coronary heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer from secondhand cigarette smoke.
We hope Delisya makes a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, if you’re a smoker, be mindful of your surroundings especially if there’s young children around who could be exposed to secondhand smoke!
