Eleven newborns have actually passed away in a fire that ripped through a medical facility’s neonatal wing in Senegal.
President Macky Sall sent his acknowledgements to the moms as he validated the disaster at a medical facility in Tivaouane, a town near the capital Dakar.
He tweeted: ‘I have just learned with pain and consternation the death of 11 newborn babies in the fire that occurred in the neonatology department of the Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh hospital in Tivaouane.’
‘To their mothers and their families, I express my deepest sympathy,’ he included.
No other information about the blaze were offered by the president.
Senegal’s health minister, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, informed regional media that ‘according to preliminary investigation’ a brief circuit might have set off the fire.
Sarr, who remains in Geneva for the World Health Assembly, stated he would interrupt the journey and go back to Senegal right away.
Demba Diop Sy, the mayor of Tivaouane, among Senegal’s holy cities and a transportation center, stated authorities and fire service were still at the medical facility, however did not supply more information.
