This is the frightening minute a shark took a portion out of a traveler– who returned in the water directly after.
Carmen Canovas Cervello, 30, was snorkeling at Vaavu Atoll in the Maldiveswhen the 220 pound shark secured its jaws around her side.
Footage reveals the 8-foot-long nurse shark circling around the swimmer prior to all of a sudden assaulting her.
The attack was shot by Carmen’s buddy Ibrahim Shafeeg, 37, an undersea professional photographer.
Pictures reveal an injury around 6 inches in size throughout Carmen’s shoulder and upper back.
But after cleaning up the injury, Carmen leapt directly back into the water for a 2nd dip.
The set felt the shark was alerting them to not get too close– and the injury might have quickly been much even worse.
Carmen even felt the injury was okay enough to be dealt with by a doctor.
So the unfazed set dived directly back into the shark-infested waters.
‘We were in the shark bay at Vaavu Atoll diving with nurse sharks,’ Shafeeg stated.
‘We chose to do a complimentary dive journey to shark bay and snorkel inside a group of sharks there.
‘There were around 10 nurse sharks, from 198- pounds to 220- pounds and over 3 metres large.
‘After the shark bite, we thought nothing major about it as it was only a minor injury so we cleaned the wound and continued snorkelling at the same spot again.’
