DAY 3 of the Ebor meeting was all it promised and more, with Battaash’s scintillating Nunthorpe display the highlight on the Knavesmire.

Favourite backers were flying high after Stradivarius hit the £1million bonus in the Lonsdale Cup.
No matter what his rivals do, the staying supremo always seems to have an answer and you long for the days of a Yeats or a Double Trigger to really give him a race.
He’s so far above his opposition that if he went to Paris he’d surely have a big chance in the Arc – though that’s unlikely with Johnny G already sending Enable.
Let’s just hope he stays in training next year.

The opener got off to a flyer for the gents on the rails and they weren’t the only ones with a big grin on their faces – Roger Fell was cock-a-hoop after his filly Tamreer gutsed it out at 33-1.
Having plied her trade in far weaker races than this you had to be a supreme judge of horse flesh to pick her out, and after the race even her trainer couldn’t believe the result.
She’s as game as they come, though, and could have another pot in her before the season’s done.
Group 1 Threat ⭐️
Richard Hannon has a genuine Guineas contender on his hands in Threat, who made up for Coventry and Richmond Stakes losses with an emphatic victory in the Gimcrack.
It wasn’t the greatest race in the world but he got to the front with ease and given how highly regarded he is, it would be no surprise to see him improve further.
He’s a big, scopey sort and could well make his mark in Group 1 company over a mile next year.
