Olsen, 28, will make a brief visit to Australia this week to attend the opening of House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture at the gallery.

The actress, whose breakthrough role was in the 2011 thriller, Martha Marcy May Marlene, is the younger sister of twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

She has since starred in the Avengers movie franchise and stars in Wind River, which is screening in Australia.

This week, Olsen told Modern Luxury magazine that the best advice her famous sisters, who appeared on the sitcom Full House as children and now have a luxury fashion line, The Row, was to stop oversharing in interviews.

“I was not caring what I was saying [in interviews] because I’d assumed no one would read it,” Olsen said.

“They’d say, ‘You know, even if you don’t think anyone’s going to read this article, someone might pull the quote later for [something else].’ It’s all part of how you hope someone interprets you, and how they frame who you are and the work you do,” she said.

“They’re very tight-lipped – notoriously so.”

Olsen recently told Vanity Fair magazine the current political climate in the US has affected how she portrays her roles.

“I think you just want to represent women well, period, and I felt that way before the election, and I feel that way now. There’s a new meaning to it now,” she said.

The inaugural gala is set to become an annual event at the gallery and is being likened to the Met Gala held each year in New York.

Other high-profile guests will include Canadian model Winnie Harlow, actress Rachel Griffiths, Grammy-winner Kimbra, who will perform at the party, and David Jones ambassadors Jessica Gomes and Jesinta Franklin.

The $500-a-ticket event will include several installation spaces and food by renowned Australian chef, Paris-based James Henry.

The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture is at the National Gallery of Victoria from August 27 to November 7.
