Portuguese star could only watch the action from the stands as paperwork blunder leaves him hanging on for his Foxes debut in the Premier League
ADRIEN SILVA was in attendance at the King Power Stadium on Saturday as his transfer limbo continues to rumble on with Leicester.
The Portuguese midfielder should have been making his Foxes debut against the champions Chelsea.
However, the closest he got to the action was a seat in the main stand as he desperately tries to sort out his future.
Leicester splashed out £22million to Sporting Lisbon for the 28-year-old international.
But the Premier League outfit missed the extended transfer deadline by 14 seconds – making him ineligible to play until January.
Craig Shakespeare revealed on Friday that the ace is not even allowed to train with his men as they still await clearance from Fifa for the deal.
The red tape forced him to miss out on the visit of Chelsea as his new employers continue to plead their case to the authorities.
Shakespeare said: “We’re all asking that question.
“A deal has been agreed between the clubs but we’re still trying to finalise it.
“It is a very rare occasion, we’re trying to come to terms with it, and our thoughts are with the player.”
Shakespeare added: “I’ve spoken to him. I feel for the lad.
“He’s not only so keen to come, but the deal was also agreed between the clubs, it is just the finalisation.
“It is World Cup year for the player and he is in limbo. He is a strong character and I am sure he’ll be fine.”
Silva’s new team-mates did little to lighten his mood as they fell behind to strikes from Alvaro Morata and old boy N’Golo Kante.
The summer transfer window was one the craziest we have ever seen.
