As much as we wish to plant ourselves in cubicles, taking a seat throughout the day isn’t healthy.
Apparently, that’s why all Apple Park staff members have standing desks.
“We have given all of our employees, 100%, standing desks,” Apple CEO Tim Cook informed Bloomberg’s David Rubenstein in a video interview launchedWednesday “If you can stand for a while, then sit, and so on and so forth, it’s much better for your lifestyle.”
Cook’s fondness for getting up and walking around isn’t brand-new. Back in 2015, Cook stated that lots of “doctors believe sitting is the new cancer.” He was promoting a then-new Apple Watch function that advises you not to sit for too long.
Apple Park, the business’s $5 billion Cupertino, California school that opened in 2015, holds approximately 12,000 staff members. The school appears to have whatever, other than a day care center. The standing desks are simply another health-conscious perk, in addition to a 100,000- square-foot health club and a two-story yoga space.
Apple didn’t right away react to an ask for remark.
