Fellow Brit Daniel Dubois also had a successful night defeating Mauricio Barragan in the second round at the Copper Box is London
ANTHONY YARDE became WBO European light-heavyweight champion in just his 12th professional fight in a sensational first-round win.
The Hackney superstar labelled his opponent Richard Baranyi ‘Chicken Biryani’ in the build-up to their fight and the Hungary fighter was gobbled up inside 2minutes 35seconds of the opening round.
The 25-year-old captured the Southern area title last time out against solid Portsmouth soldier Chris Hobbs.
But it was Yarde who was the general inside the Copper Box, adding order to the war-torn arena after fans of Sam McNess and Asinia Byfield staged a battle outside the ring that threatened Yarde’s chance of gold.
The disgusting scenes almost caused the event to be called off and Baranyi would probably have preferred a postponement.
Yarde was stunning again – mixing levels between body and head, the sound of leather on shuddering skin bellowing out now the hysteria had dispersed.
Baranyi was defending his title for only the second time and he never looked like making it to the second round as Yarde proved his Nigel Benn comparisons are justified.
The defending champion had only lost one of his 19 fights but he had clearly never faced anyone with the skill and power of the Yarde who is destined to go miles and miles in this game.

Earlier in the night Daniel Dubois wiped out Mauricio Barragan with his fourth colossal professional performance after being introduced as both Dynamite and Triple D.
And, by the time he had dispatched the latest lamb to the slaughter, they had added ‘Dangerous’ to his growing moniker.
The incredible teenage talent – chiselled from granite into an Adonis-like figure – was somehow fighting a 29-year-old for a WBC world youth title and still made it look like child’s play.
