Reports in South America claim the 27-year-old boxer had inexperienced wife making her debut in his corner
ARGENTINE boxer Saul Peralta is in a coma after suffering a brutal knock-out defeat just 24 hours after fellow Tim Hague lost his life after a defeat in the ring.
The 27-year-old – who allegedly swapped his experienced coach and cornerman for his wife – is on an artificial respirator that is breathing for the stricken South American.
The lightweight contender was in just his 15th fight on Saturday night in Santa Fe when he suffered two sixth-round knock-downs before the referee jumped in.

Opponent Elias Araujo had a perfect 15-0 record going into the bout – far better than Peralta’s journeyman career of nine wins and five losses.
In the sixth and final scheduled round Peralta was appeared to be struggling and was dropped to the canvas.
He rose to beat the count but could barely hold his own hands up to protect himself and, when he came under attack again, he collapsed to the ropes and was ruled out of continuing.
The fighter’s desperate wife said on Argentinean radio that her man is battling for his life and unable to breath unaided.
She said: “He’s still in a serious condition, in a coma, with a respirator, now the sedatives have been removed to see how he reacts, if not convulsing.”

Reports in Argentina claim Peralta had recently split from his experienced trainer and cornerman Luis Marquez.
And his wife – whose sporting expertise stretched to women’s football coaching – was instead in his corner for the first time.
Peralta was rushed to the Clemente Alvarez Emergency Hospital in the City of Rosario where his family – including his wife and brother Rene – maintain a heartbreaking vigil.
The tragedy happened just 24 hours after former UFC fighter Hague was beaten during a fight in Canada before dying on Sunday.
Hague’s sister, Jackie Neil, announced the death in a family statement.
She wrote: “It is with incredible sadness, sorrow and heartbreak to report that Tim has passed away today.
“He was surrounded by family, listening to his favourite songs. We will miss him with so greatly.”
