Ferguson Jr insists his development in the earlier stages of his fighting career stands him in good stead to surpass his dad’s career in the sport.

Kimbo Slice entered MMA after becoming a hit on YouTube after dominating a number of backyard brawls.

While his son turned professional after wrestling at high school before entering the octagon.

Ferguson Jr said: “It is definitely an honour [to carry on father’s legacy], but I have always wanted to fight my whole life and it’s something I have dreamed of doing.

“So, It is not really a burden, I accept it and that’s something I will have to do.

“It’s not hard for me to do it, it’s not like I am trying to do it. I love it, this is my passion.

“I do feel like I am better than him in a sense that my grounding is better.

“I wrestled in high school, I learnt some submissions, I know techniques on the ground.

“He [Kimbo Slice] just liked to stand there and brawl, which I do have, but I also have the groundwork too. Which makes me a little bit better than him.”

Baby Slice understands fans in the U.K. may be shocked by his 5ft 11in frame, considering his father was a bullish 6ft 2in heavyweight.

But Ferguson Jr says he is completely different to his dad as he is set to fight DJ Griffin in the welterweight division on May 20.

He added: “Look it’s Baby Slice, I am not a heavyweight. My dad was 250lbs, I fight at 165lbs that’s almost half his weight.

“But I still think I have the frame, the physique and the meat.”
