Kevin Ferguson Jr was victorious after a brutal first-round knockout against DJ Griffin at Bellator 179
KEVIN FERGUSON JR says he saw his iconic father Kimbo Slice as he made his way to the ring at Bellator 179 before winning his first professional fight.
The 25-year-old’s dad died aged 42 after a heart attack, but he used his father’s passing as motivation before brutally knocked out DJ Griffin in the first round in London.
Ferguson Jr – also known as Baby Slice – says he wants to continue his father’s legacy as he sees himself and his father when he looks in the mirror.

Baby Slice said: “It’s mostly like an image, you know when I look in the mirror I see me but I also see him at the same time.
“All the time, I want to continue the legacy and take the legacy to the next level.
“I want to evolve the ‘Slice’ name. My dad was a brawler, striker, he did not like going to the ground, he likes staying on his feet.
“As you can see I defended the triangle, defended an arm bar, so I am showing that I have some ground skills and I can defend on the ground.”

Despite it being only Baby Slice’s second pro fight and first outside of the US, he says he is comfortable with the build up to the fight.
He added: “I have been around him [Kimbo Slice] his whole career, in all his fights I was there, I walked out with him, so that’s why walking out and preparing for the fight is easy.
“The crowd is easy to deal with, those emotions are easy to deal with, because I was around him when he was dealing with them, so I kind of felt that anxiety then.
“So now it’s about staying focused and sticking to the game plan.”
