Ill-tempered match reached boiling point as punches were thrown before both fighters continued their battle on the ground
A MAJOR League Baseball match involving the New York Yankees descended into an incredible mass brawl with both benches involved in the fight.
The Yankees were taking on the Detroit Tigers in front of a packed crowd when the violence erupted.
Tensions between the two sides were already high during the match but it came to boil following a play in the sixth inning.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi and pitcher Tommy Kahnle had just been ejected after the latter threw a pitch behind Cabrera.
Cabrera then approached Yankee’s Austin Romine and the pair exchanged heated words.
Romine removed his mask and a furious Cabrera shoved his opponent in the chest before swinging a right hook.
Romine ducked under the punch and successfully wrestled Cabrera to the ground.
Then both benches sprinted to the action to break up the pair who continued to launch punches at one another on the ground.
