The Biden administration will end a Trump-period policy enabling ICE to gather details on the migration status of individuals who step forward to take care of unaccompanied migrant kids, authorities stated Friday.

The Homeland Security and Health and Human Services departments revealed in a declaration that they would end the 2018 contract and released a brand-new memorandum that “promotes the safe and timely transfer of children.”

The relocation comes in the middle of an increase of unaccompanied migrant kids at the southern border in U.S. Border Patrol custody. Biden, who promised to roll back the limiting policies of the Trump administration, has actually come under increasing pressure to deal with the circumstance at the border.
