The superstars of the Red Brand are going full-throttle as they gear up for No Mercy on September 24
WWE Raw is just weeks away from its next PPV – No Mercy on September 24 – with huge matches that include Brock Lesnar v Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns v John Cena.
With the superstars gearing up for the big event, here are five things we learned from last night’s edition of Raw.
Jason Jordan’s losing streak could be a winner
Several weeks ago we predicted that Jordan could be starting a losing streak – which continued in last night’s opening match against John Cena.
But it wasn’t all bad news. It felt like the crowd were into Jordan for the first time since he was revealed as Kurt Angle’s long-lost son.
He also pulled of an impressive-looking Northern Lights suplex, which he then rolled through on and lifted Cena to hit the suplex twice.
Cena hit the AA to get the win – but it’s interesting to see where Jordan is going.
If WWE can get him over then turn him heel on Angle, it could be the start of a push that really works for Jordan.

Reigns v Cena is everything it should be
Roman Reigns hit the ring after Cena’s match for another dynamite verbal clash – and offered Cena out for a fight there and then.
WWE has rushed into this WrestleMania-worthy feud, but Reigns and Cena’s star power and intense promo work has ramped up the excitement for their match regardless.
Full credit to Reigns too, who’s playing it like a heel and has proved he can hang with Cena on the mic no problems.
Cena can do this stuff in his sleep, but Reigns’ performance here should silence anyone who says he can’t talk or shouldn’t be in the main event.
The Raw Women’s Championship match at No Mercy will be a fatal four-way
What another one? Yes, another one – because WWE just can’t get enough fatal four-ways these days.
The No Mercy match was originally Sasha Banks v Alex Bliss, but the unlikely duo of Nia Jax and Emma beat the even unlikelier duo of Banks and Bliss last night to be added into the mix.
The fatal four-way is WWE’s way of killing time in lieu of having a better storyline – while Emma v Sasha could have been a much better option for the Raw women’s division.
Emma’s a far more interesting talent than Jax – and Emma legit started the women’s evolution with her NXT matches against Paige.
But Emma’s character has been messed around with and jobbed out it’s hard to see her amounting to anything more than comedy heel fodder.
The Miz is still the Intercontinental Champion
When Jeff Hardy was named number one contender to Miz’s IC title last week, it seemed like WWE might have something new lined up for the Hardy Boyz.
But Miz defeated Jeff clean last night with the Skull-Crushing Finale – an unexpected end to his title chase.
Is this the start of a Hardy Boyz’ split or a version of their Broken gimmick? Or is just another example of them flagging on the Raw roster?
If WWE hasn’t got something lined up for Matt and Jeff, they might soon be wondering why they bothered coming back to WWE in the first place.
Braun Strowman destroyed a steel cage with Big Show
That doesn’t mean that Strowman and Show destroyed the cage together because their match was so earth-shattering (remember last time they battled the ring imploded).
It means Strowman picked Show up and threw him through the cage, destroying the cage wall in the process.
The big moment came after Strowman had got the pin following a super-plex and power slam.
The match was more entertaining than expected. Big Show even delivered an elbow from the top rope at one point – a move he hasn’t done in 20 years.
But the real story is that Strowman continues to look like an absolute monster ahead of his No Mercy clash with Brock Lesnar.
