Fewer than one in 80,000 infants are born ‘en caul’– when the balloon of protective membrane that surrounds a fetus throughout pregnancy stays unbroken.

But in this case, physicians needed to open the sacs with their hands.
The twins’ mom, Cristiane Mucci, brought to life children Maria Cecilia and Maria Alice through Caesarean area on June 11.
The babies broke through their sacs as medics attempted to launch them at the Hospital de Nossa Senhora das Dores in Ponte Nova, a town in Minas Gerais state, south-eastern Brazil.
They were provided by gynaecologist and obstetrician Dr Emilio Garavini and were both healthy and fit, with the healthcare facility explaining the birth as ‘different and special’.
The healthcare facility stated in a declaration: ‘On 11 th June, 2 twins entered the world in the maternity ward of the Hospital de Nossa Senhora das Dores.
‘Cristiane Mucci brought to life youngsters Maria Cecilia and Maria Alice Mucci.
‘However, this birth was different and special: the babies were born en caul, i.e. still inside the amniotic sac that protects the baby during pregnancy.’
Despite cases being uncommon, this is believed to be the 5th en caul birth in Brazil.
A center in Sao Miguel do Oeste invited child Davi Lucca Rosset Basso to the world in September in 2015.
The Sun reported the unnamed medical professional who provided the baby stated: ‘It’ s a really lovely birth, the child showing up inside the sac and still moving.
‘Practically still in the intrauterine environment. Still in contact with its mother. It’ s a really psychological birth.’
Birth professional photographer Vanuza Lolatto published photos of the child’s arrival on her Instagram page, together with the caption ‘a true little bundle of love’.
