If you believed Golda Rosheuvel‘s representation of Queen Charlotte on Bridgerton was nearly too convincing, there’s a description for that. In an interview with Tatler, Rosheuvel exposed that her mom was tight with the Royal household– which eventually made it much easier for her to enter her character’s shoes. Er, well, heels.
“I didn’t need to do much research because I knew the world this character came from already,” she discussed in the publication’s April concern. “It was my mother’s world and that makes her very easy to play.”
In reality, “Every time I dress up as Queen Charlotte, I pay homage to my mother,” the starlet continued. “Before the war, they had butlers; their world was really public school. My grandpa was the headmaster of Colet Court [St Paul’s prep school], my great-uncle was Bishop of Barbados, later on Archbishop of Jamaica, and when my mom visited him there, she had supper with Princess Margaret“
