Oops, they did it once again.
Saturday Night Live‘s Feb. 20 episode provided some prominent individuals the chance to excuse their most current questionable actions—with a little assistance from Britney Spears, played by Chloe Fineman. The starlet channels the pop star’s current Instagram videos, in which she gazes wide-eyed at the electronic camera and periodically breaks out into dance, as she describes why she is the one hosting this apology trip.
“I began this program Oops You Did It Again so individuals might excuse things they did incorrect, since after the #FreeBritney documentary came out, I’m getting numerous apologies a day,” she informs the audience. “Speaking of which, I’d like to give a shout out to our sponsor, the Notes app. Are you looking to post a lame apology 20 years late? Go through the motions with the Notes app.”
The line is a not-so-subtle dig at Justin Timberlake, who just recently published his own apology to his ex-girlfriend previously this month after being called out in the New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears. The movie narrates the “Piece of Me” vocalist’s increase to popularity and fall from the general public’s pedestal, leading numerous fans to slam how Justin managed their break up.
