Can women play in Soccer Aid?

UP until 2018, all of the players to take part in Soccer Aid have been male.

But that all changes this year, where female stars will get the chance to strut their stuff in the now annual Unicef charity game.

An England side made up of sporting stars and celebrities take on a Rest of the World team on June 16 at Stamford Bridge.

Rolling subs can be made by the two managers, with the game going to penalties if it’s a draw after 90 minutes.

Which female players will be appearing in Soccer Aid 2019?

THERE will be four stars of the women’s game appearing in this year’s Soccer Aid.

Former Lionesses Katie Chapman and Rachel Yankey join David Seaman, Jamie Carragher, Glen Johnson, Jamie Redknapp, Joe Cole and Michael Owen on the England team.

Whilst for the Rest of the World, two Brazilian Women legends take centre-stage – Rosana and Francielle.

Chapman said: “It’s fantastic that we are able to inspire people to get out and play and that’s why I’m delighted to be supporting the Great Big Kickabout.

“It’s an honour for me to be involved in Soccer Aid for Unicef this year, especially as one of the first female players.”
