Sir Michael Stoute’s colt is already as short as 7-2 for the William Hill St Leger after his impressive win in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood on his last start

CHAMPION jockey Jim Crowley has bagged the plum ride on St Leger favourite Crystal Ocean.

Sir Michael Stoute’s colt is 7-2 for the final Classic of the season at Doncaster on Saturday week.


Crystal Ocean was an impressive winner at Glorious Goodwood

He impressed when winning the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood last month and with Ryan Moore and Andrea Atzeni committed to other horses, the ride has been picked up by Crowley.

Crowley told Press Association Sport: “I’m very happy. I rode the horse this morning, he went really well and I was very impressed.

Crowley teamed up with Stoute to win both the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown and the Juddmonte International at York this season with Ulysses.
