CHELSEA fans were left frustrated as teenage starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi was subbed off after coming on as a sub himself.
Hudson-Odoi replaced Pedro two minutes before half-time – the first time the 18-year-old had made a league appearance this season.
However, the winger’s season debut was cut short as five minutes from time full-back Emerson replaced the 18-year-old.
Emerson proceeded to finish the game, as Eden Hazard’s double secured a 2-1 win over Watford.
Hudson-Odoi has since confirmed on his Snapchat that he sustained an injury, with the teenager posting a picture of a bandage around his leg.
Chelsea fans were not pleased with their manager Maurizio Sarri as they thought Hudson-Odoi had been substituted for tactical or performance reasons.
One said: “It clearly shows Sarri doesn’t value Hudson-Odoi.”
Another said: “Can’t believe Sarri took Hudson-Odoi off for Emerson. The man is confused.”
However, some eagle eyed fans were quick to notice Hudson-Odoi limp off holding his hamstring – while Sarri confirmed it was a hamstring problem the winger suffered.
One said: “Callum Hudson-Odoi is injured, calm down guys.”
Another said: “Don’t know why some Chelsea fans are having a go at others about the Hudson Odoi coming off situation when we all didn’t know it was because of an injury in the first place.”
Chelsea’s win keeps them two points above Arsenal in fourth as the Blues bounced back from their shock 1-0 home defeat to Leicester last week.
Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw away at Brighton as they lost ground on a Champions League spot three days before they travel to league leaders Liverpool.
Chelsea travel to London rivals Crystal Palace in their next league game, but will be without injured winger Hudson-Odoi or Pedro.
