A sexual misbehavior claims resulted in the shooting of CNN primetime anchor Chris Cuomo, lawyer Debra Katz stated Sunday.
Katz stated her customer, whom she decreased to call, stepped forward after Cuomo made remarks on-air connecting to appreciating unwanted sexual advances concerns and following the discovery that he assisted his sibling, previous New YorkGov Andrew Cuomo, react to unwanted sexual advances accusations.
“Hearing the hypocrisy of Chris Cuomo’s on-air words and disgusted by his efforts to try to discredit these women, my client retained counsel to report his serious sexual misconduct against her to CNN,” Katz stated in a declaration.
She reported the accusations to CNN, she stated, and used to offer “documentary evidence” of her accusations.
“My client came forward at this time because she felt in sharing her story and related documentation, she could help protect other women,” Katz stated. Katz likewise represents Charlotte Bennett, a previous health policy consultant in Andrew Cuomo’s administration who implicated the previous guv of improper habits.
Steven Goldberg, a representative for Chris Cuomo, provided a declaration previously Sunday rejecting the accusations.
“To the extent that they were sent to CNN to negate what Chris Cuomo told his audience, he fully stands by his on-air statements about his connection to these issues, both professionally and in a profoundly personal way. If the goal in making these false and unvetted accusations was to see Mr. Cuomo punished by CNN, that may explain his unwarranted termination,” Goldberg stated.
The news network on Saturday stated it fired Chris Cuomo after “new information” emerged throughout an evaluation of how he assisted his sibling with troubleshooting in the middle of an unwanted sexual advances scandal.
Chris Cuomo was at first placed on an indefinite suspension after the New York state Attorney General launched files revealing that the television character had a much bigger function recommending Andrew Cuomo’s assistants than formerly understood.
