‘The Notorious’ reportedly has nothing but admiration for the boxing legend despite all the trash talk ahead of the billion dollar showdown in Las Vegas on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena
CONOR MCGREGOR will be facing one of his all-time heroes when he challenges Floyd Mayweather, according to Irish MMA fighter Aisling Daly.
The UFC fighter will take on the boxing legend in Las Vegas in nine days’ time.
And despite the trash talk leading up to the billion dollar mega-bout, McGregor has nothing but admiration for the 40-year-old five-division king.
Daly, Ireland’s first MMA world champion, sparred alongside McGregor at Dublin’s Straight Blast Gym.
She has followed his rise through the UFC since and beyond.
And speaking to BBC 5 Live, Daly revealed: “He’s always been a massive Mayweather fan.
“He’d be coaching, showing us punch combinations and videos and he showed us the Mayweather pull-counter.
“Now he’s in a position where one of his idols is his rival.
“Knowing Conor, he will believe he is his equal.”

Huge boost for Conor McGregor as he and Floyd Mayweather WILL fight in 8oz gloves after boxing chiefs perform dramatic U-turn
Daly added: “What you see on TV is just an amplified version of Conor.
“He has a genuine self-belief you can’t teach. He believes himself to a point where eventually it manifests.”
Meanwhile, it was confirmed on Wednesday that McGregor and Mayweather will wear 8oz gloves for the fight after the Nevada State Commission reportedly performed a dramatic u-turn.
Previously the boxing authority had said they wouldn’t be allowed to, and would have to stick with 10oz gloves over “safety fears”.
But Dana White, UFC president and heading McGregor’s promotion team, posted on Instagram writing that the “NASC just approved 8oz gloves for the fight”.
Robert Byrd has been named as the referee for the mammoth showdown on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena.
?McGregor v Mayweather Tips: 12/1 beast?
FLOYD MAYWEATHER is no KO machine.
His last knockout was Victor Ortiz in 2011 but that was shrouded in controversy. Before that, his previous victim had been Ricky Hatton in 2007.
So, even though we expect this fight to be one-sided, it will not end straight away.
Mayweather will toy with the inexperienced McGregor and we love Sun Bets’ 12/1 that Money wins in the fifth.
