Julia Salazar, a democratic socialist whose marketing campaign for a seat in New York’s state Senate was overshadowed by a sequence of weird revelations about her previous, unseated a 16-year incumbent in Thursday’s Democratic major.
With 88 p.c of precincts reporting, Salazar led state Sen. Martin Dilan by 58 p.c to 42 p.c. She is not going to face a Republican opponent in November.
