    A hiker will be permanently thankful he brought his pet together with him for a walk in the Croatian mountains.

    North the eight-month-old Alaskan Malamute sprung into action when Grga Brkic fell while climbing up down a slope in the Velebit range of mountains.

    Two other hikers could not reach Mr Brkic, who fractured his leg and ankle, and doubled back down the mountain to discover a search celebration.

    Some 13 hours later on, a group of 30 rescuers discovered the pet huddled on top of his owner, almost 1,800 metres above water level.

    North handled to keep him warm in the freezing conditions, stopping him from catching hypothermia.

    The pet was unhurt however Mr Brkic was hurried to healthcare facility for surgical treatment. He stated the minutes prior to the rescue group got here ‘were so slow’ and called North a ‘real miracle’.

    ‘Friendship and love between man and dog have no boundaries,’ the rescuers composed.

    They included: ‘From this example we can all learn more about taking care of one another.’

    All 3 hikers were apparently knowledgeable mountaineers and had all the essential devices.

    Despite North’s heroics, the rescue service alerted hikers not to take pet dogs out in tough conditions throughout winter season.

    Josip Brozi čević, head of the mountain rescue service, stated: ‘The pet was huddled beside the owner in the pit the whole time.

    ‘He warmed his owner with his body, preventing the mountaineer’ s substantial hypothermia who suffered an extreme fracture of the lower leg and ankle when he fell.’
