The incident was not spotted by race-day stewards at Tramore on Friday but footage has been revealed on social media that shows Russell appearing to strike the horse before the race
DAVY RUSSELL could have landed himself in a whole load of trouble after appearing to strike a horse at Tramore on Friday.
The Irish Turf Club has launched an investigation into the alleged incident involving Russell’s treatment of his mount Kings Dolly.
Footage appears to show the jockey striking the horse at a “show” obstacle before a race.
The race-day stewards were not aware of the matter but the Turf Club can take retrospective action where appropriate.
