And the win moved him a step closer to a shot at WBC heavyweight champion Wilder.

Speaking after his TKO victory, Whyte explained to ESPN: “I’m a natural body puncher and try to hurt these guys to the body.

“Against Deontay Wilder, imagine those shots?

“With his thin, lean body he’d fall after three or four rounds.

“I believe in my power. If I land I can knock any of these heavyweights out.”

Whyte proved far too strong for Tann at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.

Tann was dropped to the canvas on four occasions before the referee eventually called a halt to the contest.

The ‘Body Snatcher’ eased into the bout but proved unstoppable once he hit full stride and rattled his opponent with a dizzying flurry of head and body blows.

And it was in the third that an overhand right wobbled Tann before a thumping left hook knocked the 38-year-old down for good.
