    Eid al-Adha, in some cases likewise spelt Eid ul-Adha, the second Islamic holiday, starts today.

    Eid al-Adha has begun and will continue throughout this week in honour of Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismael under Allah’s command.

    The first major Islamic holiday is Eid al-Fitr, which means ‘Feast of breaking of the fast’, while Eid al-Adha means ‘Feast of the Sacrifice’.

    As the holiday continues, here’s a list of wishes, prayers, Quran quotes and poems to mark the occasion.

    How to wish someone a Happy Eid al-Adha

    If you say ‘Eid Mubarak’ to someone, you’re wishing them a ‘Blessed Eid’.
