Ashley Park is discussing something she does not frequently discuss: her fight with cancer.
The Broadway star provided us wanderlust when she played the ever-up-beat BFF, Mindy, in Netflix’s greatly dissected program Emily in Paris. But what her Francophile fans didn’t see onscreen is that Ashley has actually been on another journey in her individual life, after she was identified with leukemia at age 15.
“Many times people bring up my cancer experience,” she informed Cosmopolitan on Friday, Oct. 23. “I totally don’t mind talking about it. I think it’s very important to talk about, but I also appreciate when I’m not asked to talk about the experience, or about how it’s informed how I’ve lived my life.”
She described that a person of her most significant worries about cancer is permitting the health problem to permanently specify her profession or identity.
Ashley stated, “I never wanted to be just the Asian girl, just the ‘whatever’ girl, and then I got to 16 and was the bald girl and the sick girl.”
The high schooler merely anticipated having long luscious hair, while wishing to neglect any hazardous side-effects of her chemotherapy treatment.
