Google moms and dad business Alphabet stated on Tuesday that Eric Schmidt, when the business’s CEO and executive chairman, will not look for re-election to the search giant’s board of directors.

Diane Greene, who previously ran Google’s cloud department, will not look for to be chosen once again either. Both executives will leave the board after their existing terms end on June 19. Schmidt will stay a “technical advisor” to Alphabet.

“Eric has made an extraordinary contribution to Google and Alphabet as CEO, chairman, and board member,” John Hennessy, Alphabet’s board chairman, stated in a declaration. “We are extremely grateful for his guidance and leadership over many years.”

In a tweet, Schmidt stated that after he leaves he’ll be investing his time “helping the next generation of talent to serve.”

Schmidt signed up with Google in 2001 as CEO. The consultation was viewed as the business including a layer of “adult supervision” for its freewheeling creators, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Schmidt ultimately handed the reins back to Page as CEO in 2011, though Schmidt stayed the board’s executive chairman. He left that function in January 2018.

Google likewise stated Tuesday that it included Robin L. Washington, a biotech executive, to its board recently. Previously, she was the CFO of Gilead Sciences, a biopharmaceutical business based in Foster City, California.Â
