Trump called for NFL players to be sacked if they ‘took the knee’

The move comes in response to Trumps bizarre call for NFL teams to sack players who “took the knee” during the rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.

Hamilton first posted a picture of Martin Luther King Jr. with the hashtag #takeaknee.

He then posted a picture of NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who protested racial inequality last year, before writing “If you don’t know, try to educate yourself so you can understand. #takeaknee”.

Hamilton, who is currently in Malaysia preparing for this weekend’s Grand Prix, owns a home in Colorado and has made no secret of his love for the US.

The Brit, who currently leads the F1 drivers’ championship, also visited former President Barack Obama at the White House in 2014.

Meanwhile, Daniil Kvyat will be dumped by Red Bull for a second time after he was told he would not be racing in Malaysia or Japan for Toro Rosso.

The Russian, who was dumped for Max Verstappen last season, has now been told to stand down by Red Bull’s B-team in place of Frenchman, Pierre Gasly.

Gasly is on the Red Bull Junior Programme and has been racing in Japan this year in the Super Formula category.
