Facebook is aiming to assist small companies amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

As the book coronavirus pandemic continues to effect neighborhoods worldwide, Facebook stated it would be using $100 million in money grants and advertisement credits for “up to 30,000 eligible small businesses in over 30 countries where we operate.”

“People across the globe are stepping up, rising to the enormous challenge in front of us,” COO Sheryl Sandberg composed in a post. “We want to do our part too.”

In the Tuesday post, Sandberg applauded small companies, calling them the “heartbeat of our communities” and acknowledging that lots of had actually been required to alter their operations since of COVID-19, the breathing illness triggered by the infection. “The longer the crisis goes on, the greater the risk to small businesses and to the livelihoods of their owners and employees,” she composed.

In an interview with CBS This Morning on Wednesday, Sandberg restated the message. “These are unprecedented times, maybe the defining time of a century,” Sandberg informed host Gayle King, about the effort. “Small businesses all around the world are really struggling.” (Note: CBS and CNET are owned by the very same moms and dad business.)

Sandberg stated the business is working to get rid of false information around the coronavirus. 

“For this crisis, any fake information is down. It is down no matter who the source is,” she stated. “If it’s harmful and it’s fake it’s down.” 

Sandberg didn’t state whether the policy will encompass the 2020 political projects and incorrect advertisements when pressed by King. “When it comes to generalized political speech … we think that, as one company, being the arbiter of truth is too much power,” Sandberg reacted.  

According to Facebook’s small company site, the objective of the grant program is to assist small companies with lease and functional expenses, supporting workers and getting in touch with clients. 

The news is the most recent money contribution from Facebook throughout the coronavirus crisis. Last week the business revealed it was vowing $20 million towards worldwide relief efforts.
