A lot was taken away from the super-fight, but here’s what SunSport saw and noticed from the T-Mobile Arena
GENNADY GOLOVKIN and Canelo Alvarez served up one of the all-time boxing classics on Saturday night – which ended in a controversial draw.
A lot was taken away from the super-fight, but here’s five things SunSport saw and noticed from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
TWO BEST FIGHTERS ON PLANET
There is no denying it, and no debate, these are the two of the best, if not THE best, boxers on the entire planet.
They both have absolutely everything in their locker, power, skill, movement, and barely a weakness.
It’s rare in this day and age that these two should ever meet in the same ring, but what a pleasure it was that they did.
It was a barnstormer, Canelo backing off in the early rounds and Golovkin stalking his man, throwing power shots.
Down the home-stretch it all changed, as the Mexican stepped into the middle and the pair went to war.
BOTH HAVE ASTONISHING CHINS
Golovkin and Canelo landed some of the heaviest blows you will EVER see in a boxing ring.
What was even more incredible is the fact that they just walked through each other, going toe-to-toe.
There was one particular moment when the Mexican hit a flush combination, and somehow the Kazakh continued to walk forward.

BOXING JUDGES ARE ATROCIOUS
Adelaide Byrd has had her fair share of controversies including Canelo’s previous fight and Amir Khan in the past.
She was at it again in Las Vegas, scoring the bout 118-110 to the Mexican, despite it being nowhere near that.
Something needs to be done about judging in boxing, it looks bad on the sport when things like this happen.
REFEREE WAS EXCELLENT… FOR ONCE
Kenny Bayless is one of the best in the game, and he showed why again at the T-Mobile Arena.
You barely knew there was a third person in the squared-circle all-night, such was his involvement.
That is to the credit of the fighters, but when he was called upon, Bayless stepped in, and out, in a flash, keeping the action flowing.
CANELO TRIM AND READY TO GO
One thing you might not have noticed was Canelo having a trimmer beard than usual for the fight.
That is because GGG’s team wanted him to cut it over fears it would scratch their man if the heads came together.
It was a tiny demand, but shows the fine margins promoters and boxers think about when preparing for a bout.
