The king of the 619 is a man in demand… but it looks like he has rejected chance to return to his old stomping ground
FORMER world champion Rey Mysterio is reportedly set to reject a return to WWE to join rivals Global Force Wrestling.
The 42-year-old had been rumoured to be considering a comeback with the planet’s biggest wrestling company.
However, PWInsider is claiming the veteran “has a contract offer in his hands” to join the up-and-coming GFW.
The report states that Mysterio was in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday night to visit friends from WWE who were in town for Raw.
But instead of a potential comeback for the company he left in February 2015, he had already held talks with GFW earlier in the day to discuss a deal.
Mysterio is currently under contract with the Lucha Underground promotion until September and is expected to become a free agent – although he will to serve a 90-day non-compete agreement following his exit.
EX-WWE star Jeff Jarrett, who spoke exclusively to SunSport about his future plans for GFW and Impact, is the executive consultant for the organisation.
And his talks with the “Master of the 619” look like they have gone well, at least from his wife’s activity on social media.

WWE had been linked with a move for Mysterio with the hope that he could possibly boost their struggling Cruiserweight Division.
It was speculated that talks had already taken place and that his son Dominick is currently learning his trade at the WWE development school.
Mysterio won the WWE world championship at WrestleMania 22 when he defeated Randy Orton and Kurt Angle in a triple threat match.
