Dettori made all on the superstar filly who put her rivals to bed with ease and connections are now looking ahead to the Arc which could see her prove to be one of the greatest fillies

ENABLE notched her fourth straight Group 1 victory – but she’ll need to win the Arc to be Frankie Dettori’s greatest.

The charismatic Italian made all the running for an emphatic Yorkshire Oaks success on John Gosden’s superstar filly.

Frankie Dettori celebrates as Enable sprints clear of her rivals

The red-hot 1-4 favourite grabbed the lead as soon as the gates opened and the race was as good as over.

Dettori beamed: “I don’t like to say until the Arc whether she’s the best I’ve ridden. She’s doing everything right.

“I must say she got a bit bored in the end. I pushed her out but I felt I had something left if someone had come to her.

“If you try and keep with her they will break their lungs – that’s why she wins by five lengths.

Frankie Dettori plants a kiss on his superstar

“She likes to have a fight on her hands – today there was no fight and we had to do our own thing.”

Dettori stepped forward to collect his trophy with his fists in the air as though he was stepping into the ring with Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor.

With Enable in his corner you wouldn’t bet against him knocking that pair to the canvas.

Yesterday there was no need for a points decision. As knock-outs go her five-length win was the heftiest of haymakers. And she wasn’t just taking on washed up journeywomen.

Dettori’s jumping for joy once again

Runner-up Coronet had landed Royal Ascot’s Ribblesdale, Queen’s Trust was a Breeders’ Cup winner and Nezwaah had already struck at the highest level.

Gosden said: “It was a lovely prep for the Arc. She’s the best mile-and-a-half filly I’ve trained.

Enable is now set to head for the Arc

“She’s so happy in herself. At home she’s been squealing – she dropped Frankie the other day.

“She’s a happy, expressive filly – she tends to let your know when she’s feeling good.”

John Gosden

John Gosden reckons her price is daft…I don’t!

After being told Enable was now odds-on with some bookies for the Arc – Sun Bets go 11-10 – Gosden said: “That’s a bit silly but there you go – we’ll give it a go.”

It’s a rare moment when the trainer had been wide of the mark.  Her odds for October’s French finale are anything but daft.
