A French innovator flew throughout the English Channel on a jet-powered hoverboard on Sunday, after a not successful effort last month. Franky Zapata’s 22-mile journey throughout the Strait of Dover took a little bit more than 20 minutes.

Zapata, a previous jet ski racing champ, drew contrasts to Spider-Man’s archnemesis Green Goblin as he flew a hoverboard through Paris equipped with a rifle throughout July’s Bastille Day events. The board can reach a height of almost 500 feet and take a trip at a speed of 87 miles an hour.

“For the last five to six kilometers I just really enjoyed it,” Zapata informed press reporters on arrival, according to Reuters. “Whether this is a historic event or not, I’m not the one to decide that, time will tell.”

In his previous effort, Zapata removed near Calais, France, on his innovation — the turbine engine-powered Flyboard Air — and flew throughout the channel towards St. Margaret’s Bay in Dover, England. However, he fell under the water when he attempted to arrive on a boat for refueling midway through the journey.

Zapata got a $1.4 million grant from the French federal government to assist fund the advancement of the hoverboard.

The effort became part of the 110th anniversary of the extremely first cross-channel flight. French pilot Louis Bleriot made the very first aircraft flight throughout the channel on July 25, 1909.
