BE Brave in the Qatar Goodwood Cup.
WICKLOW BRAVE only has three-and-a-half lengths to make up on Big Orange on his fourth in this race last year.
He beat top-class Order Of St George last in the season and landed a Grade 1 Hurdle this spring.
Big Orange – going for a hat-trick in this race – is likely to be taken on for the lead and he prefers genuinely quick ground.
The likely fast pace will help Wicklow Brave – as will the easier going.

BIG ORANGE 4/5
BIG chance. Going for a third win in this race and better than ever this year. Won great battle in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot but he does prefer proper fast ground.
HIGHER POWER 2/5
HIGHER task. Showed he’s a smart handicapper by winning the Northumberland Plate. Yet to strike on turf and this is a big jump in grade.
HIGH JINX 4/5
HIGH up the shortlist. Lightly raced since 2014 Group 1 win. Top effort after two years off in May and easy to forgive latest flop. Faces a battle for the lead with Big Orange.
ORIENTAL FOX 2/5
LAY on Orient. Successful at Royal Ascot but stuffed in Listed contest last time. Always come up short in Group races.
I’VE GOT THE POWER
Matt Chapman’s tips for all of ITV’s racing from Glorious Goodwood on Tuesday, August 1
COULD be our Pal. Chased home Big Orange in this 12 months ago. Easy to forgive his return to action but he does get worked up.
PRINCE OF ARRAN 1/5
WON’T be king. Miles behind Big Orange at Ascot. Three wins from six all-weather starts but yet to win on turf. Lot to prove.
DON’T join the Qew. Had a spell jumping before Flat win in Australia. Fourth behind Oriental Fox on his return so plenty to find this level.
ROAD to somewhere. Third behind Big Orange in this last year. Didn’t get much luck when sixth in the Gold Cup and wouldn’t be a big surprise to see him hit the frame.
US ARMY RANGER 2/5
ARMY surplus. Runner-up in last year’s Derby but seems to have lost interest. Stayed 2m5f when third to Oriental Fox at Royal Ascot. That’s not good enough and he’s not one to trust.
WICKLOW BRAVE 5/5
BRAVE shout. Fourth in this last year and easier ground will help. Beat Order Of St George in last year’s Irish St Leger.
Won Grade 1 hurdle race at Punchestown in May and lot to like about his latest run. Everything in place for a monster run.
SHE IS NO LADY 3/5
NOT Lady’s day. Put in a personal best when fourth behind Big Orange in the Gold Cup. Another step forward would give her place claims and she has got form at this track.
SWEET SELECTION 2/5
NOT Sweet on the Cesarewitch winner. Good Ascot win on comeback but midfield in the Gold Cup. Well held in French Group 2 last time and looks below this level.
DESERT SKYLINE 2/5
SKY lark. Found trouble when sixth behind Stradivarius in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. Solid second over 1m5f last time and should stay. In at the deep end today.
MIGHT be worth a fiddle. Stepped up from handicaps to take the 1m5f Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. Promises to stay this far and gets plenty of weight as he’s a three-year-old.
