First, Nastase was asked to move from the side of the court, then when he shifted into the stands, he was told to exit the stadium.
He was reportedly swearing at officials and journalists as he was escorted out by security and was reportedly heard to say to the umpire: “What’s your f***ing problem?”
Keothavong then moved to comfort her Team GB player after she began to receive abuse from the home crowd.
At the time she was one set up, but down 3-1 in the second to Romanian player Sorana Cirstea.
It forced the umpire to agree to a time out, as Konta attempted to regain her composure after the ugly incident.
In the stands, Romanian tennis star Simon Halep appealed to fans for calm in the hope of a quick resumption to the game.
Incredibly, Konta kept her nerves to record a 6-2 6-3 victory.
