Ibiza is about to be added to the green travel list – as are the rest of the Balearic Islands (Mallorca and Menorca).

From 4am on Wednesday June 30, travellers from England can head to the White Isle for fun in the sun.

Currently, the Covid case rate in Ibiza is relatively low, with a case rate of 14 per 100,000 in the Balearics.

But what are the current Covid restrictions in Ibiza, and can you go clubbing there this summer?

Here’s what you need to know.

    Are clubs open in Ibiza?

Clubs in Ibiza could start to reopen from as early as July, it’s been reported.

In early June, the Spanish government said nightclubs could reopen until 2am, at reduced capacity, in regions where the Covid case rate was below 50 per 100,000 people over 14 days.

But, as it stands, there do not appear to be any firm dates in mind for specific Ibiza clubs reopening over the summer.

Famed club Amnesia’s Closing Party is planned for October 23, though. Another event is scheduled for October 12.

Until then, a ‘pilot’ event is being held at Ibiza’s Hard Rock Hotel in late June, reportedly for up to 2,500 people.

We’ll have to see how that goes – and watch this space for more news.

What are the Covid rules in Ibiza?

In Ibiza, face masks are mandatory in all public indoor and outdoor spaces, including the beach until June 26.

From this date, they will still be essential in indoor public spaces, including public transport.

Only those with health exemptions are excluded from the rule, as is anyone who is eating, drinking or exercising outdoors.

It’s still required that you regularly wash your hands, and maintain a social distance in public.

These rules may be subject to change – so keep an eye on the latest government guidance and the Illes Balears travel site.

When can Brits travel to Ibiza for holidays?

From Wednesday 30 June, travel from England to Ibiza for holiday purposes is allowed.

To travel to any green country, you’ll need proof of a negative PCR Covid test result before you fly.

You’ll have to fill out a passenger locator form, too.

When dusting off your passport, make sure you’ve got six months left on it, too. This is a requirement for most European countries.

When you land in Ibiza, you may receive a health check (such as a temperature check).

Arriving home, you are required to take a Covid test two days after landing. If your test is negative, you won’t need to self-isolate at home.

Keep in mind that Ibiza and the Balearics – and indeed the whole green list, except for Malta – is now on a ‘green watch list’.

This means the government is keeping an eye on the Covid situation in these green destinations, to see if they need to move from green to amber.
