Get all the info to bash the bookies as ITV’s Matt Chapman runs you through a busy Saturday
I’M off to Haydock Saturday on ITV where a busy day of racing is headlined by the big Sprint Cup and return of July Cup hero Harry Angel.
So let’s try and find a few winners to wipe the smile off the face of my friends at Sunbets. You hear me Sunbets team?
The 1.50pm at Haydock is a Listed race for two-year-olds over an extended 1m, and the one I like is DEE EX BEE, who is surely better than what we saw at York last time.
The selection was backed off the boards for the Acomb, but was stuffed a long way out. I’m hoping the Mark Johnston inmate can bounce back.
The Sprint Cup is early on the card at 2.25pm, and BRANDO was so impressive in France last time that I will stick with him for Kevin Ryan.
He wasn’t far behind Harry Angel at Newmarket and connections felt he wasn’t at his best that day. Dig in the ground is no issue.
Great memories of Be Friendly with the 3.00pm handicap over 5f named after that horse. MONSIEUR JOE was rated 109 in May, but can now race off 89 for Paul Midgley.
He might have totally gone at the game, but there is no doubt if he has any ability left he’s a well handicapped horse.
Matt Chapman’s TV tips
ITV also show the 3.35pm at Haydock. A Group 3 over an extended mile.
BENBATL had no chance against Enable in the King George last time, but this is much more winnable and gives William Carson a big chance on a Saeed bin Suroor horse who won at Royal Ascot.
Finally at Haydock there’s a 1m6f handicap at 4.10pm, and there may be more to come from SEPAL, who is on a four-timer.
Sepal keeps stepping up in trip, and running style suggests this distance could be ideal.
There are also a couple of races from Ascot on ITV, including the 2.45pm, a handicap over 7f.
This is a bit of a nightmare, but I’m going with an each-way wager on SHADY MCCOY, who I tipped up at Goodwood last time and was very unlucky not to get in the mix at a big price.

The 3.55pm at Ascot is a handicap over nearly 1m4f, and I’ll have a few quid each-way on Andrew Balding’s TORCELLO, who is up in trip but improving all the time.
This one has the right attitude and if getting home has every chance of a hat-trick.
On a manic ITV day there are two races at Kempton to look at, including the Group 3 September Stakes over nearly 1m4f at 2.05pm.
I think this should go to CHEMICAL CHARGE, who should really outclass his rivals for Oisin Murphy and Ralph Beckett.
And finally ITV show the the big 1m handicap at 3.15pm, and I will back THE WARRIOR each-way in this.
Not always easy to win on for Amanda Perrett, the selection has every chance of hitting the frame from a good draw.
So best of luck. Lots of chances of a Yeeehaaa or two. You Betcha!
