DEWHURST and Cesarewitch day is always a big one and there’s plenty on the main ITV channel to enjoy this afternoon.
Let’s get straight into the action, and the first race live on ITV is the Listed Zetland Stakes over 1m2f at 1.50pm.
On ratings there is only one winner, with the Aidan O’Brien-trained KEW GARDENS rated 106, clear of his rivals.
The selection has come across Nelson and Saxon Warrior in recent times and faces nothing like those rivals here. A good opportunity although there are some improvers.
The 2.05pm at Newmarket is the Group 3 Autumn Stakes over 1m for youngsters.
Purser hacked up at short odds last time but if there is a star in the line-up it has to be GHAIYYATH, who looked pretty special when landing a maiden at Newmarket last time.
A hood is a bit of a worry, but hopefully there is more to come.

The Dewhurst is at 3.00pm, and I have discussed it at length in my Sun column. Basically if EXPERT EYE is as good as he looked at Goodwood then he should win.
I’m also going to be boring in the Cesarewitch at 3.40pm, with John Constable very much the one to beat after his improved efforts over hurdles.
He’s only rated 88 on the Flat and that could be a very decent mark for an animal who won over jumps off 150.
They often say take off 40lb to get a Flat rating from jumping. If that is accurate JC could be 20lb well in!!!
The ITV cameras are also at York Saturday, and being shown is the 2.05pm, a handicap over an extended 1m2f.
Matt Chapman’s TV tips
1.50 Newmarket – Kew Gardens: ‘Tough tasks recently and this is easier’ (add to your betslip)
2.05 York – Big Country: ‘Can bounce back at this track’ (add to your betslip)
2.25 Newmarket – Ghaiyyath: ‘Looked pretty special last time’ (add to your betslip)
2.40 York – Shabaaby: ‘A real improver’ (add to your betslip)
3.00 Newmarket – Expert Eye: ‘Clearly the one to beat’ (add to your betslip)
3.15 York – Mr Lupton: ‘Hard to keep out of the money’ (add to your betslip)
3.40 Newmarket – John Constable: ‘Looks to be massively well in on the Flat!’ (add to your betslip)
BIG COUNTRY was disappointing for this column in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket, but he can bounce back here at a track he loves.
It’s the Listed Rockingham over 6f at 2.40pm, and hard to oppose SHABAABY, who is a real improver for Owen Burrows and will be a short price to notch up a hat-trick.
The success at Doncaster last time was particularly impressive.
Finally at York the big sprint is at 3.15pm over 6f, and MR LUPTON might be hard to keep out the money for Richard Fahey.
The selection ran a cracking fourth last time in a decent handicap and has been dropped 3lb which seems generous. Sebastian Woods takes off another 7lb.
So a huge day on ITV and a massive punting bonanza. We enjoyed some decent winners yesterday. Here’s hoping for more Yeeehaaas. You Betcha!
