HUGHIE FURY is just one day away from the biggest fight of his career when he faces WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker in Manchester on Saturday.
Fury, aged just 23, seems to have been around for an age but his boxing record is just 20-0 and is built upon the names of largely unknowns.
The cousin of former heavyweight world champion Tyson has had his promising career wrecked by acne conglobate.
An illness that would leave his scar-riddled body ravaged, his energy levels depleted and his spirit at rock-bottom – with the side-effects of the proscribed medicine hindering him further.
But he feels he can finally wipe the slate clean and add another title to the Fury family collection.
Fury told ESPN: “That’s all behind me now. I’ve got a clean sheet, I feel a different person and a lot stronger. My body wasn’t allowing me to do a lot before.
“It would put me out for two weeks at a time before the fight which was three or four weeks away.
“I just had to stop because I was worse off for training. I had a skin condition which was poisoning my blood and over the years it has got worse and worse.”

Hughie Fury vs Joseph Parker: When is the fight, and how can I watch it?
Get to know boxing legend Andre Ward, who has just announced his retirement
“I’ve had it for years, before my professional and amateur careers and it was difficult to live with.
“It put my immune system down. I saw people going forward and I was just going backwards because of it.
“It was horrific. I would try a shirt on and it would be covered in blood and every time I sparred my T-shirt would be soaked with blood.
“I’ve had it sorted for a year now. I took medication [Roacutane] for six months and it’s just gone now.
“I’ve been able to build up muscle and body weight. People don’t know what I can do because I’ve not been fully fit before, like I am now.”
Unlike his cousin, Hughie is quiet – to the point of being shy – and shies away from the singing, super-hero costumes and outrageous statements that made Tyson infamous.
But he is fuming that Parker and Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn have been publicly discussing a unification bout – implying Hughie is a certainty to lose.
Fury said: “He was obviously overlooking me.
“That’s the worst thing he could ever do and he will see that on September 23.
“Eddie Hearn is a cockroach.
