WBO president Paco Valcárcel revealed the news on social media saying “It seems the problem lies within Team Fury.”
WBO president Paco Valcárcel said late on Saturday night that the mandiatory heavyweight title fight between champion Joseph Parker and challenger Hughie Fury is off.
The fight was set to take place on May 6 at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.
But now it seems Fury – cousin of former heavyweight champion Tyson – has pulled out of the fight due to injury.

Valcárcel tweeted: “As of today, it seems there will be no WBO Heavyweight World Title fight in New Zealand.”
He puts the fight being cancelled down to team Fury, saying: “It seems the problem lies within Team Fury.”
Team Parker became increasing suspicions when they arrived in New Zealand and the Fury camp were nowhere to be seen even though the fight is only two weeks away.
Duco Events, the promoter of Parker and the event, confirm that Fury is claiming to be injured and is forced to withdraw from the contest.
Parker now has the right to book a voluntary defence and skip Hughie Fury all together.
“I spoke to the WBO president a minute ago, he said the Fury’s are claiming to have an injury and therefore we can fight whoever we want when we want as a voluntary defence out of the top 50,” .
Higgins showed complete distrust in the injury claim by team Fury and said how the Fury’s weren’t keen on coming to New Zealand in the first place.

David Higgins of Duco said to Fairfax Media: “I know exactly what it is; their moral compass has broken in half – a nasty fracture of the moral compass. It’s not just Hughie, the whole camp has.
“That’s boxing. Sometimes this sort of thing goes on. They didn’t appear to want to come to New Zealand.
Duco now will no doubt be on the lookout for a very late replacement for Fury, if they fail to find a suitable opponent, the whole event could be cancelled.
One fighter that has come forward is ex-WBA heavyweight champion Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne.
Browne tweeted Parker as soon as the news broke.
He tweeted: “@joeboxerparker I’m keen, I’m ready, I’m down to fight my bro… just need the call. No bullshit, no lie. Give me the call.”
