    An Indian male was raced to medical facility after being impaled in the neck by a 5ft iron spike.

    Karthikeyan mistakenly slipped and fell from the very first flooring of his house in the city of Tiruchirappalli, in the southern Tamil Nadu state.

    As the 33- year-old fell 20 feet, a rod with serrated edges pierced all the method through his neck.

    ‘So just a bedside ultrasound was done to guarantee no significant vascular injury. The rod was then reduced on either side with the assistance of upkeep engineers in the medical facility.

    ‘Shorting of the rod was the only option available to ensure safe mobilisation of the patient as the rod would make it difficult to enable us to subject him to any form of scanning or interventions.’

    Miraculously, Karthikeyan endured and was ‘really lucky’ to have actually made a healing.

    Dr Mansoor worried this was a ‘challenging’ surgical treatment as the neck is where the windpipe, food pipeline and the carotid artery are.

    ‘A team of specialists ensured that none of the major organs or vessels in the neck was injured,’ he included.

    ‘Cases of severe neck injury such as this are uncommon, and survival rates are rather low in our state.

    ‘The client was actually fortunate to have actually been given medical facility rapidly and likewise to have his voice untouched by the mishap.

    ‘As surgeons, we had to ensure that the rod was removed with precision, with no residual contents left behind.’
