Air-raid sirens started to sound throughout southern Israel shortly after Israel carried out its air strikes, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) mentioned.

The rocket launch by militants in Gaza broke the lull which developed following a full-day of cross-border combating between Israel and Hamas on Monday.
After darkness fell Monday evening, a rocket launched from Gaza triggered sirens on the Israeli aspect of the border, the army mentioned. It was unclear the place that rocket landed.
