Luke Campbell v Darleys Perez – WBA lightweight title eliminator, 12×3 rounds

Record: 29, 16-1 (13)

Height:5ft 9in

Style: Southpaw

Campbell is one of four Olympic champions on the bill and victory will take him a massive step closer to securing professional gold too.

Since his shock loss to huge outsider Yvan Mendy in 2015, ‘Coolhand Luke’ has won four on the spin, including three stoppages.

Campbell relocated to Miami to work with respected trainer Jorge Rubio

Now working under former David Haye and Amir Khan trainer Jorge Rubio in Miami, Campbell knows victory over seasoned veteran Darleys Perez will put him at No.1 in the WBA rankings.

The bad news is, however, that means he will likely have to go through Anthony Crolla’s brilliant Venezuelan conqueror Jorge Linares to get his hands on the belt.

POTENTIAL: Already rated by some as the best lightweight in Britain, if he fails to win a world title it will be a travesty.

Record: 33, 33-2-2 (21)

Height 5ft 7in

Style: Orthodox.

Well known to the British boxing public after his two fights with Crolla, tough Colombian Perez is entering the closing stages of his career.

He has won just one of his last four fights and has not made the 135lb lightweight limit since that second fight with Crolla – when he was stopped in the fifth – which is now 16 months ago.

But he showed signs that he is not quite done yet when he beat up the fancied Mo Hooker over 10 rounds only to be given a draw in November.

Even so, this clash looks like perfect match-making by Matchroom, who have produced a fading former WBA champion with a well-known name for Campbell to look good against.

POTENTIAL: This will surely be his last run at a world title – but Campbell will ensure it doesn’t get too far
