Are Prince George and Princess Charlotte getting a sibling?

When Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, was gifted some soft toys that soothe newborn babies at a reception in Warsaw, Poland, during their royal tour yesterday, she turned to her husband, Prince William, and laughed: “We will just have to have more babies.”

British royals arrive in Warsaw on state visit

Britain’s Prince William took his young family to Warsaw on Monday for a four-day tour of Poland and Germany that will take in World War Two memorials and meetings with locals.

It looked as if the pair, both 35, were enjoying an in-joke, but the off-the-cuff comment will do nothing to dampen incessant British tabloid headlines such as, “Kate is expecting baby no. 3”.

While British bookmakers are believed to have slashed their odds for the announcement of another baby Cambridge.

The royals, who were married in April 2011, are parents to George, who turns four on Saturday, and Charlotte, two.

The third and fourth in line to the throne, who are said to be staunch Fireman Sam and Peppa Pig fans respectively, have joined their parents on their five-day tour of Poland and Germany to get used to their roles as the future of the British monarchy.

Greeted by a crowd as they touched down in Warsaw yesterday, a shy George needed some coaxing off the plane and some words of encouragement from his father, while Charlotte seemed more at ease, waving to the crowd as she sat perched in her mother’s arms.

They were diplomatically dressed, with Charlotte in a red and white patterned dress, the colour of Poland’s national colours, while George wore a checked shirt and shorts in red, white and blue to mimic the British flag.

It’s believed they will be kept mostly out of sight under the care of their Spanish nanny Maria Borrallo in Belweder Palace in Warsaw and the British ambassador to Germany’s residence in Berlin as their parents carry out 24 engagements over five days.

Meanwhile, Middleton got the tick of approval, fashion-wise, in an Alexander McQueen peplum jacket with matching skirt. She continued the chic trend into the evening, wearing a white cocktail dress by Gosia Baczyńska to a belated birthday reception for Queen Elizabeth II at the British embassy.

Well-wishers admired her beauty, but a modest Middleton was quick to deflect.

“We were telling her that she is beautiful and perfect, but she said it’s not true, it’s just the make-up,” student Magda Mordaka, 21, told the press.

The trip marks the couple’s first joint visit to the country, the third royal tour for George and the second for Charlotte, who made her global debut in Canada last year.

On Tuesday, the royals will tour a former concentration camp in Stutthof and a museum in Gdansk commemorating the Solidarity movement which shook communist rule in the 1980s. In Germany they are due to visit the Berlin Holocaust Memorial.
