Magnussen had other ideas, however, and forced Hulkenberg onto the grass that earned the Dane a five-second time penalty.

And after the race the pair nearly came to blows over the incident when Hulkenberg labelled his rival ‘unsporting’.

He branded Magnussen as “once again the most unsporting driver” to which he replied on live TV: “Suck my b***s, honey.”

And speaking to NBC after the race, Hulkenberg added: “I congratulated him for being the most unsporting driver of the whole grid once again.

“When it comes to racing, he’s just nasty.

“Hard defending is fine but when he does this, it’s just ruthless and sending people into the wall.

Lewis Hamilton is now 14 points behind Sebastian Vettel

“What he did there, opening up the steering, making me run wide, it’s just being an a**ehole basically.

“We had really nice words, he said [suck my b***s], that was his return, so it’s quite interesting with him.”

The race was won by Sebastian Vettel but title rival Lewis Hamilton was forced to hand podium spot to Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

Vettel crossed the line ahead of Kimi Raikkonen to open up a 14-point lead in the championship over Hamilton.
