The other message, typed and printed on flower letterhead and sent out in 2007, checks out, “Dear United States federal government authorities, I compose to you for the factor, every member of the family, pal, fan, and coworker…I just want to get justice for…and others who enjoyed this guy as much as I did. This guy was Kurt Cobain, coming from a band called Nirvana and it was origanally [sic] idea and still excepted [sic] as the fact that he dedicated [sic] suicide.”

The author of the letter declared “his killer is still out there and now, since of the rush of the authorities department, has the opportunity to declare other victoms [sic].”

The FBI’s Response to Letters About Cobain

In its file, the Bureau consisted of 2 similar reactions to 2 2006 letters about Kurt’s death, sent out by fans.

“Your letter…to the FBI expressing your belief that Kurt Cobain was murdered has been referred to me for reply,” it checks out. “We appreciate your concern that Mr. Cobain may have been the victim of a homicide. However, most homicide investigations generally fall within the jurisdiction of state and local authorities.”

The Bureau’s generic action letter continues, “In order for the FBI to initiate an investigation of any complaint we receive, specific facts must be present to indicate that a violation of federal law within our investigative jurisdiction has occurred. Based on the information you provided, we are unable to identify any violation of federal law within the investigative jurisdiction of the FBI. We are, therefore, unable to take any investigative action in this case.”
