NSW Labor leader Michael Daley has upped pressure on the state government over the demolition of Allianz Stadium at Moore Park by demanding it explain why spectator seats that have been deemed flammable are finding their way to sports grounds around NSW.

And in a further attempt to halt the wrecking ball, Mr Daley said he had legal advice from a senior planning lawyer that there may be “serious deficiencies” in the consent given for the demolition of the stadium and the building of a replacement.

“It talks about hazardous materials, the potential for carcinogenic material, to be under the ground here [at Moore Park] and being disturbed during the demolition,” Mr Daley said.

Mr Daley said he would send the advice from Tim Roberston, SC, to the City of Sydney, Randwick, Woollahra and Waverley councils to see if they would take legal action “to stop the demolition”.
