Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., is accusing Democrats of creating a concerted effort to get rid of “so assist me God” from the congressional oath.

People “must know that there’s a concerted effort now to alter this custom,” Johnson stated on “The Todd Starnes Present.”

Fox Information reported final month that the Home Committee on Pure Assets was trying to take away the phrase from the oath, sparking outrage amongst conservatives. The phrase appeared in a guidelines proposal draft in brackets, with a crimson line by means of it.

Home Pure Assets chairman Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., has since known as the crimson line “a mistake,” however Johnson isn’t shopping for it.
